The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has introduced revised passenger-friendly norms for airline ticket refunds and modifications. Under the new rules, passengers can cancel or modify bookings without paying additional charges within 48 hours of ticket purchase, subject to prescribed conditions.

The regulator has also directed airlines not to impose extra fees for correcting minor name errors of the same passenger if the request is made within 24 hours of booking, provided the ticket was purchased directly through the airline’s official website. The move aims to enhance consumer protection, transparency and ease of air travel.
