The Chennai Declaration, also called the Chennai Consensus, was adopted at the 14th BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Ministerial Meeting under India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026. It provides a framework for strengthening cooperation in science, technology, research infrastructure and innovation.
The Declaration envisions a people-centred and future-ready BRICS STI ecosystem through collaborative research, shared scientific infrastructure, talent mobility and responsible use of frontier technologies. It seeks to harness innovation for sustainable development across BRICS countries.
