APSC Prelims 2025: 7 Summits Challenge

• Vishwanath Karthikey Padakanti, a teenager from Hyderabad, has become:
  • The youngest Indian and
  • The second youngest person in the world
  • To complete the prestigious Seven Summits Challenge.

About the 7 Summits Challenge:

• A renowned global mountaineering feat involving summiting the highest mountain on each of the seven continents.
• First proposed and completed by Richard Bass, an American mountaineer, in 1985.
• Considered one of the greatest achievements in the world of adventure and mountaineering.

Seven Peaks Included in the Challenge:

1. Asia – Mount Everest (8,848 m)
2. Africa – Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m)
3. North America – Mount Denali (6,190 m)
4. South America – Mount Aconcagua (6,961 m)
5. Antarctica – Mount Vinson (4,892 m)
6. Europe – Mount Elbrus (5,642 m)
7. Australia/Oceania – Puncak Jaya (Carstensz Pyramid, 4,884 m) or Mount Kosciuszko (2,228 m) (depending on the version followed)
