Objectives:
- To document every manuscript and manuscript collection
- To preserve manuscripts using modern and indigenous methods and train a new generation of manuscript conservators
- To critically edit and catalogue various aspects of manuscript studies such as language, scripts and texts To promote access to manuscripts by digitising the rarest and endangered manuscripts
- To promote access to manuscripts through publication of critical editions of unpublished manuscripts and catalogues
