The elusive Tiger Bittern was recently spotted in Jatinga after a gap of nine years.
Occurring between September and November, the migratory event in Jatinga sees birds such as Indian pittas, kingfishers, common moorhens, drongos, and green pigeons flock to the region every year under unique weather conditions.
Despite a decline in the number of visiting birds due to recent environmental changes, the enthusiasm among bird lovers remains high. Plans are currently underway to establish a birdwatching tower at Doiheng, which could turn the village into a major tourist attraction.
