On India’s 79th Independence Day, the Prime Minister announced Mission Sudarshan Chakra, an indigenous multi-layered defence programme to safeguard strategic, civilian, and religious sites from potential enemy threats. Drawing inspiration from the mythological Sudarshan Chakra of Lord Krishna, the mission integrates India’s cultural symbolism with advanced security strategy.
Under the Ministry of Defence, it seeks to create a self-reliant, research-driven protective shield capable of neutralising threats from air, land, sea, and cyber domains. The objective is to ensure comprehensive protection of vital infrastructure, urban centres, and sacred places while enhancing India’s technological autonomy in defence. The mission represents a proactive, integrated approach to national security within the Aatmanirbhar Bharat framework.
