The United States has announced that India will be invited to join the US-led Pax Silica initiative, signalling a major step in strengthening strategic, technological, and trade ties between the two countries. The move comes amid intensifying global competition over semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and critical technology supply chains.
Pax Silica seeks to secure the entire silicon and semiconductor ecosystem, from raw materials to advanced AI chips and data infrastructure, reducing vulnerabilities and supply disruptions. By limiting participation to trusted partner countries, the initiative aims to build secure technology networks while minimising risks related to espionage, data theft, and geopolitical coercion.
