The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has introduced ‘Swachh Sakhis’ under its Guwahati Swachh Abhiyan 2.0 to strengthen household-level waste management. The initiative aims to improve regular garbage collection and ensure better coordination between residents and sanitation agencies.
Each ward will have a Swachh Sakhi responsible for coordinating door-to-door waste collection, facilitating the collection of user charges and monitoring sanitation activities. The initiative seeks to promote community participation and improve the efficiency of urban waste management in Guwahati.
