The centenary celebration of ‘Bibar Laisi,’ the first Bodo journal publication was held recently in Udalguri

Published in 1924 under the editorship of Satish Chandra Basumatary, an influential writer and social thinker of the Bodos, the journal was initially brought out by the Bodo Students’ Union, “Bodo Satro Sonmilan.” The Bibar Laisi (Journal) had a total of eight volumes and played a crucial role in the period from 1920 to 1937, known as the Bibar Mooga in Bodo literature, which was instrumental in the development of Bodo literature and language.
